In the summer there is a lot of sun, heat, sandy areas and beaches and insects of course. And too much of them sadly!
The first mosquito repellent was made and marketed even in 1956.
But, if the smell bothers you or the skin itches with it like a chemical or a plant with odor, avoid them. Avoid the DEET as much as you can since it can make you get bitten more. Take vitamin B1 instead. That is the trick.
The B1 is also named thiamine and is essential in some food items like yeast, oatmeal, asparagus, brown rice, liver, kale and eggs. That is crucial for fighting the stress and improving the immunity.
This vitamin is water soluble and in bigger amount it will be flushed out, not stay in the body! So, do not worry if you have too much of it.
It is amazing that there is connection of B1 and mosquitoes since the B1 can change your natural body smell and bugs react to that smell. Or, B1 makes your smell ‘yeast like’ to the insects and they hate that so are not tempted to bite.
But, the good part is that you smell yeasty only to insects, not to other human beings around you so, no worries!
Yet, this result is not certain all the way. To take extra vitamins daily is not a bad thing to consider.
Be aware too that some issues can lessen the thiamine in our bodies, like alcoholism, Crohn’s disease, anorexia or having gastric bypass. In case of these conditions, extra vitamin comes in handy.
Do you want to give it a try? Take 100 mg thiamin daily and after 2 weeks you will see how insects get away from you.
If the B1 is still not enough for you, also try a natural mosquito repellent. We have a recipe for you to avoid chemicals and do this the natural way.
