According To Science Who Is The Brightest Among The Siblings? Read Here!

Are you the oldest and sagest of your siblings?

Or the youngest and most rambunctious? Scientists now say that birth position has a great deal of influence on parts of who you become.

A study of 20,000 people from the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany, done by the University of Leipzig, examined neuroticism, extroversion, intelligence and more.

Upon comparing the results to birth position, they found that first-born children are significantly more intelligent than their younger siblings.

The tests failed to prove birth position affected any of the other attributes they examined, including extroversion, emotional stability, agreeableness, conscientiousness, or imagination.

As far as IQ, the researchers determined that birth order was worth about 1.5 IQ points, meaning the first-born, an average, would be 3 IQ points brighter than the third-born, and so forth.

In families with only two children, they found the first-born was 60% more likely to show intelligence than the second-born.

Of course, most of our intelligence is developed; only about 40% of our intelligence is genetics, leading some researchers to speculate that the difference in intelligence is more a result of the larger responsibilities usually placed on older siblings as compared to their younger brothers and sisters.

Additionally, parents’ expectations are often higher of their first child.
