In Africa, the Middle East and Asia people practiced eating with their hands instead of using forks, spoons and knives.
Strange as it may sound , but for experts it is actually a good habit , despite all the times that your parents told you it was poor manners to eat using your hands.
Eating is a sensual process that engages all the senses – sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch and it adds a connection between the food and the body, mind and soul.
Sensory Experience
According to Ayurveda, each finger of the hands is an extension of the five elements:
The thumb is related to space.
The forefinger is related to air.
The middle finger is related to fire.
The ring finger is related to water.
The little finger is related to earth.
The senses of touch, smell, hearing, sight and taste become more active.
More Hygienic
People who eat with their hands always wash their hands before sitting down to enjoy a meal so it is completely safe.
We all wash our hands several times a day,but when it comes to spoons, forks and other utensils, they are often washed quickly and are not always cleaned well.
Well of course it is much more convenient to use spoon and fork while eating but it is more fun eating with only using your hands.
