Avoid These Brands of Carcinogenic Lipstick! It Will Burn Your Lips!

The makeup industry makes billions in revenue each year, and all the while you are taking in carcinogens.

You’re probably shaking your head in disbelief and it is true. If you examine the labels you can identify what chemical is in them.

Shockingly, the U.S. government has no laws mandating tests on cosmetic products, before they are sent out to commercial retailers. Many brands of shampoo, lipsticks, deodorants, hair conditioners and other personal care products aren’t going through extensive regulation for quality control.

Most brands don’t even add their ingredients on the label, and it’s a tactic used to deceive consumers.

Certain brands of lipstick have toxic levels of lead in them. If you are constantly applying lipstick to your lips, you’re mostly ingesting dangerous levels of heavy metals like lead. These chemicals can also seep into your skin and buildup in your system.

Harmful Chemicals that Cause Carcinogenic Lipstick

The Environment Defense Group did a study on 49 makeup products to test them for levels of toxic metals.

Some of the tested products are:

• Five foundations

• Eight lipsticks or glosses

• Four powders

• Five blushes or bronzers

• 14 eye shadows

• Seven mascaras

• Two eyeliners

• Four concealers

Research has shown excessive amounts of heavy metals in just about every makeup product. 96 percent were found to have lead, 61 percent had thallium, and 90 percent had beryllium in them. Research also pointed out that 20 percent had arsenic while 51 percent had cadmium in them.

Harmful Metals Cause Carcinogenic Lipstick

Out of the eight metals tested, most of the tested products contained 4 metals. Every tested product contains 2 out of the 4 metals that have extreme risk for health concern. Arsenic, lead, mercury and cadmium are extremely dangerous toxins and are life-threatening. A report done by the FDA recently noted that 400 brands of lipstick had traced amounts of lead in them.

The report found that the levels were too low to even be considered life-threatening. Dr. Mark Mitchell (from the National Medical Association) believes different and is skeptic of that. He says that: “lead can build up over time in the body, and if the particular lipstick that contains lead is applied several times per day, it can add up to alarming levels of exposure.”

In the Environmental Defense Group’s study, 51 percent of the tested products were found to have cadmium. Its well known as a carcinogen in the scientific community. Many patients with breast cancer have traces of cadmium in them, studies found. What is even more scary, is that a lot of the metals don’t show damaging effects instantly. They do make the body more susceptible to serious illness including cancer.
